An African Folk Song of Sorts

from Odds and Ends by Steven Wesley Guiles

/

about

My mom gave me a kalimba and some shakers that she bought in South Africa on a trip. I was inspired to write this song creating a rhythm using these items as they main instruments.

All other percussion was made on pots and pans and household items.

lyrics

Oh ohhhhh oh ohohohooo

I'm gonna see the stars tonight
I'm gonna see the stars tonight
I'm gonna see the stars tonight
I'm gonna see the stars tonight
I'm gonna see the stars tonight
I'm gonna see the stars tonight

Oh ohhhhh oh ohohohooo

Bring your sadness to the light
It will break me if you don't
I'm gonna see you in the stars tonight
I'm gonna see you in the stars

Oh ohhhhh oh ohohohooo
There's a joy in my heart
There's a joy in my heart
There's a joy in my heart that I cannot describe

There's a joy in my heart
There's a joy in my heart

Oh ohhhhh oh ohohohooo
Oh ohhhhh oh ohohohooo
Oh ohhhhh oh ohohohooo
